If you read the “About Me” section in many design blogs, you’ll read things like “as a little girl I played with colour and design…” or “even at a young age I loved to re-arrange my bedroom furniture” - but that’s not my story.….
When I was younger, I had an interest in anatomy which led me to study Health Sciences at the University of Western. But when I quickly, and sadly, discovered that biochemistry wasn’t my “thing”, I shifted my focus to business and ended up working as a product manager for a large pharmaceutical company. It was kinda health-related anyway - so I convinced myself. After 7 years and a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, and 3 kids later, I decided it was time for a change. Around the same time my husband and I purchased an old Toronto home and began to renovate. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the renovation and design process. There was something I found very fulfilling about taking a home that was old and tired and breathing new life into it! I found it both an art and skill to preserve our house’s charm, while updating the aesthetic to make it more functional for a modern family. Perhaps for me it was the perfect marriage of being able to apply the analytical and project management skills I’d gathered over the years and add-in the creative element that I’d always been missing. So, I decided to take a leap and I enrolled in design school. Much to my delight, I discovered that design and space planning actually was my “thing” and I haven’t looked back.
I’m a local Beacher, mom of three, small business owner, certified AutoCAD artist and work with local homeowners, interior designers and contractors. Let’s talk about how I can help turn your house into a functional and beautiful home that you love!
